Day -1

Good evening!! It has been a good day. Becky went to exercise class this morning and came back to the room panting. They really put her through it. Not really. They did some stretches and leg kicks that left Becky sitting in a chair for the last part of the class. It was good for her to go and meet several of the other patients that had already had their transplants and were doing well.
.
Jessica got here about 11 and we enjoyed her visit. She helped Aunt B set the clock on the blog site because I thought some of you were sending us messages at 5 in the morning. We are up some days at that time but not blogging. Becky has been up in the chair quite a bit today and has handled the Atgam treatment much better. They have had to give her a lot of steroids and now she has developed Steroid induced diabetes and is receiving insulin on a sliding scale. They said that it should go away when she gets off all the high powered steroids.

Daddy and Martha got here about 4:00 pm after taking an unplanned tour of downtown St. Louis. My brother David had helped Daddy get a cell phone and he called us and Barb talked them to the hospital. After they got checked into the hotel, which is connected to the hospital, Daddy was ready to go see Becky so that's what we did. Becky was really glad to see them.

Tomorrow should be an uneventful day, other than the birthday celebration for #62, until after 6pm when she'll get the transplant and have her 2nd birthday. They have to wait 24 hours after the completion of Atgam before she can have the transplant. It will be done here in the room and there will be a doctor on the floor and a nurse with her all the time. We are all excited about it and pray all goes as planned.

Have a great night and we'll let you know how things go tomorrow night.

Love,
Becky and Barb

  3. Hey Becky - Happy Birthday. I was going to write a poem for you, but my attempts were pretty pitiful, so I will spare you that.
Anyway, I am just bubbling over with good wishes for you and praying that all goes perfectly today. Love you. Carole H
