Day +1

Romans 8:28 is my verse for today. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose". We knew there were going to be a few more bumps in the road after the transplant, but Becky and I weren't quite ready for them to come upon us so quick. After the infusion of cells went so smoothly, we thought we would have a good nights sleep but that wasn't to be the case. About 1:00 Becky started with the chills and shaking again and her temperature went us. She also had eaten some jello right after the infusion and it all came up. The nurse was in an out all night doing medications for the fever and taking blood cultures and had a chest x-ray done. In the midst of all that, 2 of the 3 lumens of the port are refusing to give a blood return again. Pray that it's only positional and it will start working again. She's a strong lady and will handle whatever comes but really doesn't want to do another port change.

The nurse was just in this morning and her temp is 104 and her heart rate was 156. They did an EKG and she is in sinus rhythm (which is good) so they think the rapid heart rate is from the fever. They're just not sure the source of the fever. They have changed 1 of her antibiotics, increased the dose of one and added 2 antifungal medications that hopefully will begin to turn things around. They also increased her fluid intake which should help also. Her nurse today is one of the oncology ICU nurses and has been at it a while and is right on top of things and isn't afraid to confront the "fellows" (doctors) for treatment.

Daddy and Martha were suppose to leave this morning but I haven't talked to them yet. It was almost midnight when everybody left here last night, so hopefully he is still resting. He is suppose to preach for my brother Steve this Sunday and will need to get back to KY. The 3 children that were able to be here are staying today also and BJ is coming up also. Becky may not be very good company though since they are going to keep her highly medicated until the fever comes down.
