Sept. 9 Day +55

I Thessalonians 5:14,15 says, "Ane we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that noboby pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else." We saw this scripture in action this morning while we were at the hospital. After Becky's visit we were heading out and there was a sale in the hallway of jewelry and we stopped to look. Becky mentioned that one particular necklace was really pretty but then we headed on out. A lady named Gwen stopped us and asked if she could buy Becky the necklace. She said that she was doing a random act of kindness every day and wanted to get it for Becky or another one if she preferred something else. She had a friend who had lung cancer and came to the center for treatments and had worn a ballcap and mask like Becky. She sure demonstrated to us the love of God and also said she would be praying for Becky. Isn't God wonderful!!

Now on to the medical report. The nurse took almost 50 minutes today to get blood from the catheter and then only got one lumen to work. The nurse apologized to Becky for taking so long and Becky apologized to the nurse for the catheter being so stubborn but it wasn't either one of their faults. The nurse also changed the bandage on the site.

We were late for the appointment with the Nurse Practitioner and they had been looking for us. It wasn't too long before she came in once we got back to the room. Becky's vitals are still good and her weight remains stable. (I can't say the same for mine!!). The lab results were good with the hematocrit, hemoglobin and platelets going up just a little more from last week.
Becky is having a little sinus drainage and cough so the NP listened to her lungs carefully and wrote her a script for Claritin to take for the drainage. We have been walking outside more and there is also a lot of demolition going on in the area.

The NP said it wasn't necessary for her to wear her mask in the building or outside unless there was construction going on or if there was a crowd of people in close quarters with little ventilation. She also said she "could" drive if she felt like it. She doesn't think she's up to that yet though. We also got some instructions on who could visit when she got home and the only restrictions are if someone is running fever or sick (especially with flu season coming), or if a child has had a live virus immunization such as MMR or Varicella (chicken pox) or an adult that has received the Shingles vaccine within a month.

All in all she continues to do great and the Lord blesses daily.
